I started playing tennis when I was 4 years old in Canada which is where I was born. I immediately developed a love for the game. My family moved back to Spain when I was twelve and I was able to experience some of the finest coaching there.
At the age of 17, I took over the management of the Aztec Tennis Club in Malaga with my Father and we ran this for over nine years. After this I travelled, coaching in top hotels and clubs in Dubai, Bali, Florida and most recently in Manhattan, New York at the Manhattan Plaza Racquet Club.
I am currently living and coaching tennis in West London and my passion for tennis is as strong as ever. What motivates me as a coach is the ability to share something I love and hope my clients get as much enjoyment out of it as I do.
My coaching style?
I adapt my style to suit my clients as everyone is different and learns in different ways. Some learn visually, some through muscle memory and others through explanation. I give my all during lessons, hoping my clients will do the same and that way they can benefit the most from my coaching. At higher levels I introduce tactical coaching; although it's very important to have good technique, it is even more important to know how to play points and matches in order to be a successful player. Above all however, I encourage my clients to have fun and enjoy themselves.
My all-time favourite tennis player?
Rafael Nadal, for his humbleness, talent and for never giving up
Where can you play?
Brook Green Tennis 10, Westway, Dukes Meadows 20, Paddington Recreation Ground
What is the highest level of professional tennis you have attained and what is your current level of playing ability?
I played semi professionally on the men's ATP tour. I was, and still am, one of the highest ranked players in Andalucia, Spain. I still play at a very high level (I recently won the LTA Level 3 men's open tournament at Duke's Meadows in London) and this means that I can coach players of all abilities. I am comfortable coaching beginners and tour players and have coached my brother, Steven Diez (ATP 170) and other top 200 tour players at Wimbledon and the US Open.
